Chief Crawford noted immediately the scene was staged, and that both of the deceased were victims of a homicide. With the help of every officer in his department, he moves quickly to develop suspects. One man kept popping up as the main "person of interest". Then, an unlikely suspect makes some minute mistakes, which grabbed the Chief's attention. The Chief sets a trap he hopes will cause the new suspect to make a move that will put him behind bars for life.

Enjoy the mysteries by Annis Ward Jackson, just wish she would write more of them! Her books are not too long and involve too many details that are not necessary.
Really loved this book. The writing style is right on the money and and flows well. It's a great continuation of the first in the series, "Jingle Bells Shotgun Shells". I loved the character of Alma Seagle and found her to be very realistic. Great read and a great price. Look forward to the next one, hope it's soon!
This is the second book in the Ellis Crawford Murder Mystery Series. This series is set in Eastern North Carolina in the late 1970's. Crawford takes a job as a police chief in a very small town. He has recently left the military. He uses his military experience to solve crime. You will love this series. The writing is fast paced. The story hooks you in right away. The characters are very believable. Another winner!
